This weekend in Implosion we’ll be concluding a 3-week Just Add Power series.  This week we’ll be talking about the fact that we’ve been blessed greatly by God but with that blessing comes a responsiblity to share and help those in need.  We’ll also be passing out small Just Add Power banks for kids to take home to use this summer as they collect money for our project.

To follow up from our lesson, try asking your student a few of the following questions:

1. What was the most memorable part of Implosion this week?
2. What was the dream of Martin Luther King Jr.?
3. If you were to dream abotu what God could do this summer, what role do you see yourself playing?
4. Do you think you and your family are rich?  How about compared to the rest of the world?
5. What are some resources, besides money, that you have at your disposal?  How could you get creative to use those this summer for Just Add Power?

You won’t want to miss our kickoff to this great project.  It is such a big deal that we’re planning our first Jr. High overnighter at the church in all of my 6 1/1 years here.  We’re planning some awesome glow-in-the-dark games (to fit our power theme) and several other really cool things like:

• Great food (we’re providing some and also asking students to bring a snack to share)
• Games like Sardines, Capture the Flag and Gargon
• Free time for dodgeball, video games and hanging out with friends
• Making some fun stuff to send to the Jr. High kids in Africa
• Best of all, we’re planning a live teleconference with some of our sponsored kids at the school in Kenya!

We’ll be meeting here at the church on Friday, June 5th from 10PM-8AM.  Students should bring a sleeping bag and a snack to share.  I hope we’ll see you all there…and dont’ forget to invite your friends to see the cool stuff we’re doing this summer!

To follow up from our lesson, try asking your student a few of the following questions:

1. What was the most memorable part of Implosion this week?
2. What do moths and rust have to do with giving to others?
3. Where do you tend to spend your extra money? (clothes, games, food, etc)
4. What will you do this summer (or even this week) to begin storing up your treasures in heaven?  How can that help the kids in Kenya?
5. Is there something our family can do to help Just Add Power this summer?

We added a new page to our website today.  You’ll find it by clicking the Fundraiser Nights link on the right hand side of the page.

We’ve been working with several local businesses (Monical’s, Pizza Hut & Kick’s) to plan nights when families can visit and a portion of the proceeds will be given to our Just Add Power project.  The first night we’ve got planned is at Kicks and it is coming up from 4-9PM on  Monday, June 8th.  Before you visit be sure you pickup a flyer.  In the next few days they should also be available to print off from the Fundraiser Night page. 

We’ve currently got five different nights on the calendar but we have several more that haven’t yet been confirmed (Steak & Shake, Noodles & Company, etc).  Be sure you check the Fundraiser Night page on a regular basis so you and your family can take avantage of this easy way to help Just Add Power this summer.

This week we’ll be talking about how God cares about our whole lives That means both our physical and spiritual needs are important.

To follow up from our lesson, try asking your student a few of the following questions:

1. What was the most memorable part of Implosion this week?
2. What is Just Add Power? How can you get involved this summer? How about our family?
3. What kinds of decisions do you typically have to make in a day?  How are those different in Africa?
4. What have we done so far today that’s “spiritual”? How about things that aren’t “spiritual”?
5. In God’s eyes, is there anything that isn’t “spiritual”?  Why do you believe that?
6. How can we play a part in kingdom work that focuses BOTH on people’s souls AND their bodies?

We’re also planning serveral additional opportunities for you and your family to get involved.  This is just a hint of what is to come.  Get ready for an amazing summer!

We’ve got lots of exciting stuff planned for this summer.  Two years ago we did something called Just Add Water to raise money for wells in Africa.  We had a great time as we watched God blow all of our hopes and expectations out of the water.  This summer we’re planning another big emphasis called Just Add Power.  Our goal is to provide a generator and some solar panels for the boarding school we support just outside of Nairobi (where the Jr. High age students attend). 

Be on the look out for lots more info to come as we finalize all of our plans for the summer.
