The next fundraiser for our Just Add Power project is TODAY, June 29th at Monical’s Pizza.  From 11AM-10PM, Monical’s will donate 20% of all of their sales to our project if we bring in a copy of this flyer.  Be sure to print one out or pick it up at church.

The total after our first month and our car wash (with some pledges still to come in)…

only $8,200 to go!

We had a great car wash on Saturday and I want to say a big THANKS to everyone who came to help and everyone who brought their car by to be washed.  We’ve made around $1,300 so far just from the car wash with some money still to come in from people who collected pledges per car we wash.

If you still have your pledge sheets we’re trying to collect all of the car wash money, if possible, by next Sunday (7/5).  We washed a total of 55 cars on Saturday if you need that info to collect your final donations.   

Great job guys!  Now great ready for our huge garage sale coming up on July 18th.  Tell your friends, make some stuff for the bake sale and collect all the donations you can to make it even better than the car wash.

In addition to baking items on your own, Theo & Kristen Spilman will be leading a baking night on Wednesday, July 15 from 6-9PM in the Cafeteria Kitchen.  Come and help us bake lots of goodies to sell at our big garage sale on that Saturday.

Are you bored already this summer? Then may we suggest BAKING?

Attention all Junior High Students and Parents (and anyone else who’d like to help)! We will be selling baked goods at the Garage Sale on July 18, 2009 for the “Just Add Power” campaign. Get out all those secret family recipes, and start baking! Many items can be prepared now and frozen until the bake sale. All items will need to be individually wrapped or boxed. Our color scheme is gold, black and white. Our theme is “Just Add Power!” You could make sugar cookies in the shape of light bulbs, African continent, or electrical outlets. Whatever you want, just be creative!

We will need:

• Cookies
• Cakes
• Cinnamon Rolls
• Muffins
• Quick Breads
• Pies
• Cookie Bars
• Other fun things you can think up!

All baked items should be delivered to the church on Friday 17, 2009 by 5 pm. All items should be placed in the Cafeteria Kitchen (we will be setting up for the sale beginning Thursday night). Our car wash is this Saturday from 10AM-2PM.  Students can see what time slot their group is working and download extra pledge sheets on the Car Wash page.  Please be praying for our students as the collect pledges this week and prepare for the big day.  During our Just Add Water project in 2007 the car wash was our biggest fundraiser so this is a big day. 

If you’re out and about on Saturday be sure you swing by the K-mart on Wabash & Veteran’s between 10AM-2PM for a free car wash.  The more cars we wash the more money we raise so please tell all of your friends!

Our overnighter Friday night went great!  We had over 60 kids there running around playing games like capture the flag, sardines & gargon.  We also took out an hour or two to decorate 300 pairs of sunglasses and write individual notes to students at the Jr. High school we will be helping in Kenya. 

My personal highlight of the night was our live conference call at 2AM with some of the children living in Kenya.  We spent 30-40 minutes talking about what life is like there and telling them a little bit about life here.  We talk about the kids in Kenya so much but rarely do we get to interact with them the way we did that night.  It truely was a night to remember.

We made an audio recording of our interviews so hopefully we’ll find a way to get that uploaded here soon.
